There was this really gorgeous changing room at Tangs. Like a boudoir! The colours of my dress fit perfectly into the all red / brown / orange background.

I love how floatly and wispy this dress is... really fun to wear and it's also super comfortable. I took off the belt it came with because I wanted it to look for floaty and I really wanted the right silhouette. The only thing I'm missing? A motion shot of me twirling and the dress floating around me. :)

Paired this with Pretty Fit shoes.

Anyway, I'm loving my new leather bag that CJ got for me. A little bit of Hermes Kelly and also little bit of the new Fendi bags I saw of the SS09 runways. Loved loved loved it!

Sexy, natural and my favourite colour (yes I actually like brown / bronzy colours)
Natasha Poly has always been my favourite model since the time her shoe got caught on the runway in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2005.

Seeing her go from brown hair to blonde, and now becoming one of Meisel's models, appearing on Vogue Paris and now Vogue US (maybe Vogue Italia soon?)... it almost brings a tear to my eyes. :)

I'm still wearing my Zara jacket every time I have the chance to. It goes with most of the stuff I have in my closet, I love it!It's been keeping me warm the last couple of days with the rainy weather.

I'm stalking Topshop every chance I get in case the Rodarte style knit jumper turns up. It's almost obsessive how much I feel I need it!

My love for Roberto Cavalli is a roller coaster, and after 2009 S/S RTW, I've kind of written it off. Not the biggest fan of his aesthetic.

This season, however. Wow! I love love love what he has to offer. Sure, he's not the first to do rocker chic, but it's done very well, and I do love the studded skirts. The matted studs are gorgeous! And here's the best thing - it's not obvious like Balmain is. Don't get me wrong. I like Balmain in all it's studded jacket glory. But I think matted studs are so much more gorgeous.

And that dress on Tanya D. The fabric looks gorgeous! Hope to see more from Cavalli from the following seasons.

I bought this dress from Cococlub at Holland Village over lunch... Couldn't take my eyes off it, and just look at the little surprise at the back of the dress! (Which also means it had to be handwashed :P)

I love my duffle bag. It's small, so I won't be tempted to carry all the unnecessary things that always weigh my other bags down.

Every season, I see the Prada collection and I think 'WTF Miuccia'. And every season I grow to love it when the ads come out and I see how pretty and wearable it is in real life. The crinkly dresses in the most gorgeous material in S/S09. Love love love!

This season, Miuccia does distressed cat lady in Viking era. Or something. Her inspiration is probably something incredibly poetic and I'm probably wayyyy off line.

Anyway, I don't think even Miuccia can explain her way out of this. WTF indeed.

WAYWT || Waste some time with you

I've been having fun with the black skirt mentioned in the previous post. It goes well with most of the clothes I own, and my favourite combination must be the skirt with my Burberry sweater. Black + tan = love. I don't have a picture though, but I will be wearing it so often, it will be more chances to take photos of it.

Went shopping, and there was this really interesting Tux dress. I love it.. I might have to own it, but I have no idea where to wear it to.

What I wore yesterday - Furrmuse cardi (bought from College), M)phosis black skirt, Tommy Hilfiger tank top, shoes from Taiwan (a present from a friend) and black duffle bag - I forgot where I got it.

Maybe one day you will estimate me

Am I glad I wore my black tights. It was so hot in the morning, and it rained like crazy in the afternoon. I'm wearing my favourite old and battered brown jacket. Very lived in. White minidress and black tights with glittery shoes for the whole 'shoeless' look. :D

We went to watch The Wrestler and Mickey Rourke did an amazing job!

I bought a cute new black skirt at M)phosis and the possibilities are endless. What to pair it with? :)

Topshop || Witchcraft

So after waiting and anticipating, this is what's actually being sold... Everything looks similar, EXCEPT for the Rodarte-style sweater. Which, in my opinion (humble, of course), is what brings the look together. The sweater is the talking point of the entire outfit. WHERE IS IT? The actual sweater being sold is more fitted to the skin, and not loose fit. It's solid coloured, not different coloured knits. And it is not nicely ripped at the right places.

In other news, I crave the two jackets of the other looks, the one on sale looks decent too.

Edit// Seeing Style Bubble's entry on the press event last year on these looks make me sad. The Rodarte-style knit piece looks gorgeous. It should have gone to production.

WAYWT || Cotton On Dress

I recently bought a dress from Cotton On, this really great clothing line from Australia. I really like their laid back style, and even their dress up clothes are really pretty yet casual. And the best thing? The dress is only 35bucks.

I wore it out immediately on a shopping trip with CJ. We saw this chair at a furniture shop... It's called the egg chair. Mixture of futuristic shape with traditional materials and handiwork. Amazing.

The dress is really comfortable, and it's perfect for the hot weather, what with the flappy sleeves. A little country and a little hippie. I love it!

I pair it with, What's What byAerosoles boots, black duffel bag, grey cardigan, Ray Bans and this cute charm necklace from mykillerheels.

INSPIRATION || Adventure move leading lady style

I've been toying with this idea for a while now, and have been gathering pictures. I like Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) best of all the adventure film leading ladies - Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou), Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger), though I like the wardrobe of Diane Kruger in National Treasure better.

There are probably other famous adventure movie leading ladies, but (1) these are the ladies who came to mind first - I don't watch a lot of adventure films and (2) I prefer the ones who are also brainy - see Betty Ross. :) And no Bond girls for me... unless she's Michelle Yeoh.

WAYWT || Calvin Klein Minimalist

I've always admired Francisco Costa's minimalist, yet edgy designs for Calvin Klein. His designs always have the clean lines I like, but with something to mix it up a little, so it would not be so boring. It's so easy to fall in love with his aesthetic. I'm trying to carry off this really interesting style - a CK dress, but without the belt. It looks nice with the belt but without it, you can really see the dress taking shape. :) It also has this shiny sheen to it, which I can't capture on camera, but it makes the dress really cool and futuristic!

Wow. Times like this I wish we had a Uniqlo near us. I missed Alexander Wang (by 2 months!!) and now I will miss Shipley & Halmos :/. I love designer collaborations, but I never seem to be able to get my hands on anything. H&M, Uniqlo, Target... please expand your horizons. There are fashion conscious people in Asia too!

WAYWT || Burberry sweater

Stepping out with CJ for some lunch... we are on our way to check out this giant mall near my place.

I bought this sweater when I was in Hong Kong, and I love it! It's the perfect summer weight sweater - it keeps me warm in my air conditioned office, but is light enough to wear when I walk out of office to the sweltering heat for lunch. I love the color too, it's beige-y but works well with my skin... I'm not a bright colours kind of girl unless it's on my nails! :)

I wear it with my favourite Old Navy top-dress. It can be worn as a top (just fold it up), or folded down to become a dress. And my very versatile Zara mini. I just got this necklace from Viv&Ingrid and it's the perfect colour. I finish it with my Crabtree and Evelyn clutch and glittery shoes.

INSPIRATION || Leading lady style

Recently I've become quite obsessed with the style of leading ladies in adventure movies. It all started with a trip to the National Geographic store where CJ got me this gorgeous jacket. (Don't have a photo yet, and it's not on the site) It's dark blue, and it looks kind of rugged, yet well tailored and intellectual.

I suppose that's where it started... it looked intellectual. Just like what Betty Ross from 'The Hulk' (Liv Tyler's character) might wear to campus. Then I thought of Indiana Jones and now I'm building this inspiration board for intellectual leading lady style. :)

It's a work in progress, I've not done many inspiration boards, but I think this will be fun.

And I have to work on my leading lady style outfit!

Dress shirts are one of my favourite things to wear, and this particular one from H&M is my favourite! It's super comfy, and I can go casual / dress up with this easily. Plus, I like the length of the sleeves.

I paired this with an insane pair of heels. Believe me, it's so hard to walk in them even though they are relatively strappy. I think it's the tapering of the heels. I feel like I'm falling over sometimes! But they look good with the dress :)

Pairing it with this necklace, which I adore. I've been looking for a statement necklace for a while, and I found this at a little shop in Holland Village. I love it!

CAMPAIGN || CK Jeans S/S09

I've been anticipating this campaign for the longest time... Natasha works with Steven Meisel! Sure, it's all been said and done - after 4 years, he shoots her for Vogue Italia, Vogue US and Missoni. But it's CK Jeans I'm most interested in. I always thought Natasha looks best in more basic, raw type shots. In my mind, if it's anything like Kate's / Natalia previous CK ads, she + Anna J + Edita (not sure about Anna S or Naty) would be hot hot hot!

It's even better! It's a mix of Kate's old CK Jeans ads, with Natalia Vodianova's CK Jeans ad. And with all the raw sexuality. I like it!

Channeling Chanel Iman... I loved the dress but it is supposed to be boat neck with buttons on the sleeves. I like the off-shoulder look but it is a little awkward on me.

The blue is very rich, but my camera doesn't capture it properly!

Off-shoulder. Pardon the bra straps! At least it's colour coordinated.

I don't have blue shoes so beige with blue nails it the best I can do!

OFFSIDE || Living Stones

A while back at the National Geographic store, I saw the cutest things ever! Pebble shaped cushions! They are so cute and they look very real! I was considering buying them but they cost way more than I would pay for a cushion. Nonetheless, it doesn't stop me from drooling over them. In the photo I'm carrying the small and medium sized ones. The small one is about 300 bucks!

They are called Living Stones and they are by this creative designer called Stephanie Marin (http://www.smarin.net/). I've screencapped some pictures off her site. It's amazing! I love the giant pebbles.

Doesn't it look fun? The ultimate mix of softness and strength.
Do check out her site, she has many other amazing home decor products, like living island and mobile shadows. Her work seems very oriented to nature elements, and clean and streamlined. Very inspirational!

BAG CRAZE || PS1 Proenza Schouler bags

To be perfectly honest, I didn't jump on the bandwagon immediately following the announcement of Proenza Schouler's new bag range. I remember it clearly. I first read it on fashionista, and there were no pictures, only a video of the designers talking, which I didn't bother to click on. But fast forward a couple of weeks, following a lot of buzz, I finally googled PS1 and I AM HOOKED.

They remind me so much of those old chinese green school bags / army medic bags (but way way more gorgeous, obviously!) I love how casual and utilitarian it is, yet it's so trendy and downtowne without being too obvious. Especially the tan one... so gorgeous!

I spent a lot of time tonight thinking about Bryan Ferry's Slave to Love and 9 1/2 Weeks. There is something about the song and the movie that transcends time and fashion. It struck me more of being a mood rather than just a song or film. It's very powerful. Working on a mood board now, and I hope it can help me understand this feeling better.

I found this chunk on text on my itouch... about Bryan Ferry's Slave to Love video, and wow, what was I talking about? :P It was late at night and had a bit to drink... that's why it sounds like weird ramblings! :)

Can't place Bryan Ferry. Roxy Music seems like a mood, not a style. Very beautiful, idealised version of a modern glamourous life. Very elegant, Very passionate. Bryan Ferry is the epitome of what it stands for. Like a film, very much like In the Mood for Love or Blade Runner. Like a drug. Like a mood. Like a love you can never have.

Anyway, I've screencapped the video off Youtube, and my pictures do no justice to the beauty of the video. Every single moment in the video was constructed carefully to look beautiful in that moment. And yet, it joins up in a coherent story. I remember feeling the same about Wong Kar Wai's In the Mood for Love, where every scene was set up so beautifully, every shot tells a story and yet it comes together beautifully. The last shot is that of Kim Basinger in 9 1/2 Weeks.

You really have to see it to feel it.

COLLABORATION || Lanvin ♥ Acne

What's been on my mind for a while is whether I like Alber Elbaz's collaboration with Acne Jeans. Lanvin ♥ Acne has been launched for a while now, and I am still considering if it is worth the price tag. Lanvin lovers would probably jump at the chance to get Alber's creations... but I keep circling back to the fact that it's denim and at USD1110 a dress, I want to get something more.

Denim done well - especially in this case, good fit, fantastic draping - is totally worth the money. But at those rates, I would myself a good bag instead. :)

Beautiful denim top - perfect for afternoons spent running errands and having a cup of coffee.

I want a paper bag like that, and the good thing is, I can DIY. :)

I love well cut dresses, and the fact that this was made from denim makes it even better.

COLLABORATION || McQueen for Target

McQueen for Target! Eagerly anticipated, and somewhat not what I expected. His gorgeous S/S 09 show with the wet hair look is still fresh in my mind so I guess that formed my expectations. I suppose what I always thought of McQueen is embellishment embellishment embellishment so I often forget the real pieces underneath.

I really like the pieces though. Very wearable. And the colour scheme of blues and greys are gorgeous... To little emphasis has been placed on grey, I think. Which is a great colour and very versatile.

McQ does swimwear! I love this.

Ugh. Probably the only one I hate. Don't get the love for jumpsuits.

Love this look. Grey is my fave colour. I like how she looks like she's wearing a police shoulder holster. But cooler.

I love the jacket. Been on the lookout for a good leather jacket, but this cropped leather vest is slowly overtaking it.

The skinny pants are great, and I love the color. The shoes on the other hand... I don't love.

Another great jacket from McQ! Prints are okay, nothing to scream about.

Sweater's cute and it looks like it has very structured shoulders. I like.

I like this look but it's totally ruined by the leggings. :/
